The Institute for Applied Demography, Berlin-Brandenburg, plc (IFAD)

The Institute for Applied Demography, Berlin-Brandenburg, plc (IFAD) is a non-profit research institution with longstanding experience in the empirical and theoretical social research.

The Institute concentrates its activities on the following main areas of research:

  • Investigation on demographic processes in Germany - projections
  • Development trends within regional labour markets
  • Complex investigations on selected social areas - urban and regional sociology
  • Analysis of the situation of selected social groups

The IFAD staff is composed of scientists acting in different fields of social research. The cooperation of demographs, sociologists, scientists working on law and economy as well as statisticians allows an interdisciplinary approach to the respective research subject and helps to raise considerably the efficiency of research subject and helps to raise considerably the efficiency of research work.

IFAD Berlin-Brandenburg maintains extensive, data banks on social, demographic as well as economic facts and information. Various cooperative relations and working contacts with partners within and outside Germany complete and enlarge the research and working capacities.

 

The Institute is initiator and carrier of the IFAD-Forum. In its meetings scientists introduce the results of their recent research to representatives of public life and economy as well as to fellow researchers.

IFAD is editing regularly an own series - the IFAD-Edition in which research papers of the Institute are published.
