Method Model: Curricular model (INTEQUAL/ DUOQUAL)
Description "A major issues identified in the project is the extent to which vocational and general education are or can be integrated. This 'common core' of double qualifications is addressed in a comparative analysis of a curricular model. Based on the evidence in the national case studies a matrix is developed which takes account of two dimensions: (I) the relationship of education and training to skilled work and (II) the relationship of general education to vocational training. Selected indicators are applied to identify specific and common characteristics of national schemes." (Lasonen et al., 1998, p. 3 INTEQUAL)

Presentation of the model in the DQ Base (Combining vocational and general education

Discussion "The comparative analysis is illuminating yet confined to a normative approach (reflecting curricular regulations rather than the practical side). A more elaborate comparison of practical evidence would have been possible, with the combined effort of the partnership. Yet, in a collaborative project it would hardly be desirable to employ the partners as contributors for a centralised task like this." (Lasonen et al., 1998, p. 3)
