Project ADMIT - Higher education admission and student mobility in the EU
Overview The research project ADMIT was concerned with student mobility and admissions to higher education institutions in five EU countries. A major objectives of the research was to compare policies and statistical data at a European and national level; to review previous research, and to provide a conceptual framework to aid the partners' understanding of the differing systems in operation.

For each country a review of the literature relating to student mobility and admissions to higher education was carried out, using a framework agreed by partners. In addition, conceptual issues relating to student mobility and admissions were investigated.

Each research team examined legislative and policy documents. Statistical data were also scrutinised. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with policy makers and others to shed further light on policy at a national level.

Case studies were carried out in all countries participating in the ADMIT project. The number of case studies varied, due to differing national contexts and decisions taken in relation to the balance between diversity and detail necessary to meet the project objectives.
