Privacy policy: Data protection

Update according to The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU taking effect from 25/05/2018

Which data do we store?

We collect and use personal information only with your consent, and to the extent necessary to supply our website with content and services. The WIFO website follows the data protection rules of our provider DFN Winshuttle as quoted below:

"Log files are created via the use of the website and evaluated by authorized personnel in the event of a security incident. The log files contain information about when the content was accessed, what amount of data was transferred, whether the access was successful, which browser type (if transmitted by the client) was used, and the referrer. The website visitor remains anonymous, because the IP addresses in the log files are shortened. A transfer of the data to third parties does not take place."

How do we use the data?

We use your data to send information you have ordered to the e-mail address you have provided. This includes the L&W Newsletter and information posted to  VETNET via mailing lists run by WIFO (see details of mailing lists). We distribute this information only with your consent. You can cancel these messages at any time by contacting the WIFO administrator via sm@wifo-gate.org. Your email address will then be deleted from the mailing list concerned.

Furthermore, the WIFO Gateway provides directories of European professionals, Doctoral dissertations and Masters programmes as well as overviews of networks and projects. The data available for these directories and overviews can be accessed online. The colleagues involved can correct, update or remove their data by contacting sm@wifo-gate.org.

Transfer to third parties

We do not share your personal information with third parties.

Protection of personal data

We protect your personal data using technical and organizational measures in order to effectively prevent loss or misuse by third parties. The data for the directories and the addresses for the mailing lists are stored in a secure place only accessible by the WIFO administrator.

Your rights

You can at any time ask for information on the personal data stored about you. You can also request the correction or deletion of your personal data stored by us. For any queries please contact the WIFO administrator via sm@wifo-gate.org.
