The timely topic of the book reflects global social and economic changes in labour markets. Work transitions of young people are relating to their well-being that is a field of action of the youth policies and it needs research that explores the flows of influence across these areas of young people’s lives. This book approaches the situation of young people in current labour markets around the world, from a variety of disciplinary and transdisciplinary perspectives. It is based on the strong foundation of international researchers’ cooperation   in the field of youth research.  The particular focus of the book is on the importance of successful transitions to adult life as manifested in psychological and physical well-being. 

This book, based on a series of case studies from Europe but also from USA, Canada, Africa, India, Japan, Russia, Australia and New Zealand, is searching structural forces of the choices young people are able to make. The articles of the book analyse how social, psychological, economic and cultural factors influence young people´s attempts to control their lives, their ability to respond to opportunities and to manage the consequences of their choices.
